anticipation is part of the good thing itself — you’re allowed to just feel it
Everyone feels all of this. Prime is how fast you come back.
mechanism
Excitement is anticipation with energy attached: the system predicts something good and prepares for it now. Physically it looks almost identical to anxiety — same heart, same readiness — and the difference is only the sign of the forecast. That is why it can flip into anxiety in seconds, and why it is such good fuel while it lasts.
not to confuse with
anxious: the same body with a negative forecast · energized: fuel without a specific object ahead · proud: about something already done · restless: charge with no target at all
in the body
quick heart, wide attention, difficulty sitting still, talking faster than usual
feel it
Enjoy it for thirty seconds before spending it. Excitement burns fast — most of it evaporates into talking about the thing rather than doing it.
what to do
Point it at the first concrete step while the charge is live. Anticipation converts into work better than any planning session done from a flat state.
don't
do not spend it all on telling people — talking about a plan gives the same reward as doing it, and the charge does not come back · do not commit to more than the step in front of you
if you do nothing
It burns off in a day, and the thing it was pointed at stays undone. Enough repeats of that and excitement itself gets less trustworthy: the body learns that this feeling does not lead anywhere.
after
note what the excitement was aimed at and whether the step happened — that link is the one worth training · excitement that flipped to anxiety is data about the stakes, not about you
