none of your people are in reach — the missing thing is connection; let it be felt, then reach for one

lonely is a signal, not a verdict — you’re built for people, and one of them is a message away
Everyone feels all of this. Prime is how fast you come back.
mechanism
Loneliness is a hunger signal, not a verdict about you. The system tracks the gap between the connection you have and the connection you need, and reports it as ache. Like hunger, it is not proportional to how many people are around: you can be lonely in a full room and fine alone, because the reading is about being known, not about being surrounded.
not to confuse with
grieving: a specific person is gone and will not come back · hurt: someone is present and their act landed on you · empty: wanting itself is gone, including wanting people · insecure: you avoid people from forecast, not from missing them
in the body
heaviness in the chest, a pull toward the phone, restless scrolling of the same contacts, throat tight when someone finally asks how you are
feel it
Let the ache be there for a couple of minutes without treating it as evidence that you are unwanted. It is a reading of a gap, and gaps close. Scrolling other people's lives while feeling it makes it sharper: that is watching connection, not having it.
what to do
Reach for one real contact — a call, a voice message, a specific plan with a specific person. One line to one human beats an hour of feeds. If nobody is reachable right now, do something with your hands among people: the room helps even without conversation.
don't
no scrolling as substitute — it feeds the gap · do not wait to feel better before reaching out: the order is reversed · do not audit who has not written to you
if you do nothing
The ache turns into a story: «people do not really want me». Then you stop reaching first, contacts thin out on their own, and the story gets evidence it did not have before.
after
loneliness three times in a week is about your week, not your worth: look at the calendar · the contact that helped is worth remembering — the list of who works is short and stable
