wave: ~10 min · you are past the peak
What was the first sign? one question, after the fall — that’s all
no thought work now — the debrief is for tomorrow · tomorrow: break it down → thought
arguing with panic feeds it — waiting it out is the skill

the wave passed — that is the win
Everyone feels all of this. Prime is how fast you come back.
mechanism
Panic is the full alarm firing at once: the body reads immediate danger and floods the system to run or fight. Breathing goes fast and shallow, blood leaves the hands, and thinking is downgraded on purpose — the body decided there is no time to think. The peak is short by design: adrenaline cannot hold for long.
not to confuse with
anxious: a forecast, slower and thinkable · overwhelmed: too much load, but no alarm · hurt: pain with an author, no body alarm
in the body
heart pounding, dizziness, tingling in hands and lips, air hunger, the sense that something terrible is happening right now
feel it
Do not fight it and do not analyse it — thinking is offline and arguing extends it. The single job is to wait it out with a long exhale. It peaks and falls; it always has.
what to do
Longer exhale than inhale, feet on the floor, name five things you can see. No decisions, no messages, no conclusions until it passes. Thinking comes back on its own once the body drops.
don't
no decisions in the storm · do not run from the place if you can safely stay — escape teaches the alarm it was right · do not check symptoms on the phone
if you do nothing
It passes anyway — panic cannot sustain itself. But if you escape every time, the alarm learns that escape is what saved you, and the list of places that trigger it grows.
after
worth logging what preceded it by an hour: sleep, food, caffeine, the last conversation · repeated panic in the same setting is a pattern to work with, not a place to avoid
